I am 63 years old and living with one of my three daughters in Karachi. Since the death of my husband, I have struggled to support myself.

    Family Losses…

When my husband passed away I knew I wouldn’t just have to deal with the sorrow of his death, but I would face new challenges finding food and money to support myself. My three daughters are independent and do not have the time or money to help me. I am truly alone.

My home is not my own…

I share my small one-bedroom flat with one of my daughters, Salima, who is a school teacher. We find it very difficult to cope in such a small space, but we are grateful for it because without it we would be homeless. The flat is paid for every month by a private donor, without whom I would be destitute. I cannot thank them enough, but I worry about what will happen if one day they stop paying for my home.

    The kindness of strangers…

Sympathy Charity heard about me from one of their office drivers, Aslam Bhai. He told them that I needed help because the community institutions give me nothing. I am thankful that he thought of me and spoke on my behalf.

    Sympathy Charity makes life easier…

Now Sympathy Charity helps me by giving me monthly rations. I am able to feed myself to stay alive, thanks to their kind support. I don’t know what would have happened to me without them.
