The most painful thing for a mother is to see her children starving of hunger and could not do anything to feed them. I have been through this pain in my life, when I had no job and no other way of earning to feed my little children.

The most painful thing for a mother is to see her children starving of hunger and could not do anything to feed them. I have been through this pain in my life, when I had no job and no other way of earning to feed my little children.

My husband got addicted to Class B drugs...

I’m a 56 years old woman who has the sole responsibility of food, shelter and education of my two children. I did some courses on beautician and that enabled me to start working as a beautician with which I was able to earn some money for the living expenses. My husband is a rickshaw driver and we both used to contribute together for the household and education expenses of my children, until he fell into the addiction of Class B drugs. This impacted my entire family as he then started wasting all his earning in buying those drugs and soon we started getting short of school fees. I had a mediocre income which I earn by going to people’s home and dressing them up. This surely wasn’t enough to improve my family’s life standard. My husband had become careless about all responsibilities he has as a father and a husband and didn’t even bothered that our children were close to be struck out from their schools due to outstanding school fees from months. Whenever, I asked my husband for some money he always gets violent and beats me up fiercely, without realizing that I wasn’t asking for my own sake.

    I had a terrible accident...

Life had more to come... I had a terrible accident with a rickshaw that injured my whole leg and my ankle was badly crushed by the collision with the rickshaw. Now, my only way of earning was also out of the question as I could not even move from bad with such a severe injury. In the first few weeks after the accident, I continued my work as I have to feed my children; one is 7 years and the other is 10 years. They are not mature enough to manage their food, and being their mother I did whatever I can to manage food for them. But, due to prolonging the operation, my entire foot was infected and now I was simply bed bound. I used to cry due to the intense pain in my foot and the pain of seeing my hungry children. I wished life could have shown its mercy on me and my little kids...

I’ve taken my children to zoo...

I don’t know what people would say to this, but it is a living miracle for me that from nowhere, the Sympathy Charity came to know about my problems and my days of pain were about to vanish. It was informed by doctors that delaying the operation can spread the infection further and my whole leg then has to be cut off. The total cost of the operation, medication and doctor visits was around Rs. 130,000 and I thought that the Sympathy Charity would ask me to manage a potion of this amount, but seriously I had nothing to give at that time. Unlike my assumption, I was funded for my entire operation, and in addition to this, I was also provided with Rs 3850 for buying my beautician kits and start over my earning once again. I’m earning more than before and not only have I paid one month school fees of my children, I’ve taken them to zoo also; their first outing in 6 months. The happiness I saw on their faces is worth more than a million dollars to me. Thanks Sympathy for getting it back!

    Sympathy’s Note...

After learning about Shahnaz’s case, Sympathy Charity did all possible efforts to find donors for her case and get some discount on her medical expenditure. With the determination and continuous running around of hospitals, the charity was able to get a 30% discount on her total medical expense, which was funded by one of our noble donors. Her operation was done successfully on and she recovered very nicely. The donor also bore the entire expense of her beautician kit, enabling her to be a working mother again. The charity would like to share the good wishes of Shahnaz with its donors.
