I was refrigeration engineer and worked for a reputable company for many years.  I was unaware that I had diabetes and when I found it was too late.  Both my legs had to be amputated because of this.  This has left my family disabled as me as I was the only earner.I am 58 years old and struggle with diabetes and a disability in both of my legs. I want to stay active in my community, but it gets harder every day.

    I’ve given up so much…

I used to be an active member of the Garden Rovers Unit in my home town of Golimar. I enjoyed taking part in regular duties every Friday and Chandraat. But now I am unable to go because of my disability.

I rely on my family for support…

My wife Nasreen Akber is 58 years old and she takes care of me. She works hard to stay on top of the household chores while making sure I have what I need. I wish I could make her life easier, but I am unable to help her.

    Keeping faith…

Thanks to the vital help and support of the Golimar volunteer workers I am still able to attend Jamat Khana regularly. Each time, they pick me up and drop me off so it is much easier for me to travel there. With their help I am able to attend prayers with my neighbours and talk with others.

Sympathy Charity helps me every day…

Sympathy Charity supports me and my wife by giving us rations and spending money. The Golimar Social Welfare Board helps us with food and medication. Without their help my wife and I would be without the important food, money and medicines we need to survive. I am very grateful to Sympathy Charity for helping us in our time of need.
